How kids communicate: "Introducing Andrew"

Play Therapy: Why Play Matters and Why I use it

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." - Plato

"Play is the highest form of research." -Albert Einstein

Through play the brain is essentially making sense of itself and its experiences. Play is how we learn about ourselves and ultimately about others and the world around us.

Play Therapy was the first therapy approach designed specifically with children in mind rather than being adapted for children from an adult therapy approach.

Play therapy is designed to allow professionals to engage with children in a dialog that is most familiar to children. Play helps us to better understand how a child understands their own emotions, thoughts and relationships; it helps us to intervene therapeutically to facilitate growth in these core areas. - Karen Vander Dussen, Psy-D, RPT-S
